When he approached me, I found him kind and genuine, but I was skeptical. A club felt like a place where people seek fun more than something lasting. So instead of giving him my number, I gave him my best friend's number and pretended it was mine — and told her to block him the moment we walked out. Just to be safe.

But Kelvin didn't give up. And life had other plans. The world turned out to be small — my brother knew him too.
